Silk Neckwear

In the past two decades, our company has become the leading manufacturer in the world of pure silk authentic British striped and crested hand sewn neckwear. Our company has produced “club” stripes and crests for many of the world's foremost private clubs and corporations. A Ben Silver tie will be worn proudly, not hung in the closet to gather dust. This is because each tie is entirely hand made of the finest pure English silk as befits the importance of your affiliations.

All of our striped silk is woven in England to our demanding specifications and shipped to America where our cutter cuts and makes the ties the old-fashioned way: by hand and slip-stitched. This permits not only quality, but consistency. All linings are the same. All silk is the same number of picques, with the same quality weft and warp. We use the very finest quality silk which accounts for the vibrancy of the color and the “hand” of the silk, both unique to Ben Silver cloth. We are careful to line our ties properly so that they knot perfectly for a four-in-hand or a half Windsor. Traditional striped and emblematic ties are 3¼ inches wide and 57 inches long. (Of course, bow ties, ascots, extra long ties, wide ties or boys’ sizes can be produced as well.)

We have earned the reputation of keeping the traditional English repp stripe or club tie alive in America without regard to the whims of fashion. This is why the world’s foremost organizations and institutions have selected the “topshelf” quality and make associated with the Ben Silver name.

We are delighted to work with our clients on every detail of design and its implementation. From the inception of a custom design upon the receipt of your motif, specialists at the mill are carefully at work to produce a drawing for approval.

When a striped pattern without a motif is the choice, we assist by offering renderings of the stripe settings and variations. When a motif is to be woven into a jacquard, the design is converted into a detailed drawing appropriate for silk weaving. Colors, settings (spacing of the motif) and size of the design are carefully considered. A single design may be woven in many colors.

Settings may be selected with multiple purposes in mind—bow ties for example, rather than four-in-hand exclusively.

Then modern computers color and size the motif. A traditional jacquard woven design is punched, setting the loom’s direction. The jacquard can be set on a striped ground as well. Occasionally organizations prefer printed twill as the silk backdrop for their emblem and we are proud to print the very finest “saglione” twill. Whether woven or printed, the finished product is of the quality our clients can proudly wear and to which they are accustomed as gentlemen.

Silk Accessories

Once we have created the very finest silk hand made neckwear for your organization, you will enjoy seeing your colors in other accessories cut from the same silk!

Gentlemen enjoy the unique display of colors provided by evening wear (here, shown with the added touch of our formal wear cufflinks). The same fine English silk produced for neckties or bows can be cut to matching cummerbunds, handsewn and beautifully lined, with matching bow ties or produced as evening waistcoats. These are striking accents to the black tuxedo or white dinner jacket.

Your silk will also make up beautifully as braces or as belts, both with fine leather tabs. Printed twill is especially suited to ascots or scarves. Large square scarves printed on broadcloth, rather than twill, are an attractive addition for women associated with the organization.

All of these options give you a fine assortment of silk products to display your colors proudly.
