The Ben Silver Corporation is proud to introduce line of "first-quality" striped Sewanee neckwear and accessories in the best traditions of the ancient universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Authorized by the Associated Alumni and inspired by the original "Oxford blue" tie developed for the College of Arts and Sciences. Each stripe pattern represents a distinctive community of the University of the South. All patterns include a discreet stripe of "Episcopal purple" bordered with ancient gold on a contrasting field of color. All stripes descend "from the heart" in keeping with tradition set by the ancient universities.

The College stripe features an "Oxford blue" ground as that color is the dominant tincture in the College's arms. This shade of blue is used as the official color of Oxford's sporting teams and thus alludes to the historic links between Sewanee, Oxford and Cambridge. The College stripe is exclusive to students, faculty and alumni of the College.

The Theology stripe features a red ground as that color is the dominant tincture in the School of Theology's arms as well as the traditional academic color for divinity regalia. The primary colors of red and blue composing the secondary color of purple (the University color) are thus adopted and symbolize the historic and continuing components of the University. The Theology stripe is exclusive to students, faculty and alumni of the School of Theology.

The University stripe features a purple ground to emphasize the traditional "Episcopal purple" and ancient gold colors representing the entire Sewanee academic community and alumni. Unlike the College or Theology models, these stripes are available to the students, faculty, administration and alumni of the University.

The Gownsmen stripe features the "Sewanee series" on field of gownsman black. Authorized by the Order of Gownsmen in 1995. The stripe is exclusive to the Order and all graduating alumni.

All neckwear is entirely handsewn of the highest quality English repp silk. All patterns available in 4-in-hand neckties, extra-long neckties, bowties and ascots. The University stripe is also available in a coordinated cummerbund.
